Get Your Windscreen Ready For An Epic 2024 Road Trip
December 19, 2023 by Tom in Blog

With the New Year fast approaching, many people will make the usual kind of resolutions, which tend to involve joining a gym or giving up fatty foods. Many of these won’t last beyond January.

Others, however, will focus instead on making some great plans for the year ahead, like exciting holidays or a bucket list item. For many motorists, that could involve going on a road trip.

To do this, you don’t have to jet off to the US to drive Route 66, or Australia to explore Victoria’s Great Ocean Road; there are lots of options here in Britain.

For example, Goboony has published a list of ten great UK road trips to try in 2024. These include the Isle of Skye, Isle of Wight, Northern Ireland’s Causeway Coastal Route, the snow roads of the Cairngorms, the South West 660, Anglesey, the Argyll Coast and the Cotswolds.

These all offer great scenery and lots of visitor attractions, but they pass through mainly rural areas and you don’t want to get a car problem when you are out on the sticks. That’s why you need to get your car checked before you go to ensure it is in tip-top condition.

Among the steps you should take is to check the windscreen and get any glass chips repaired, as the last thing you want is these enlarging and making driving hazardous (as well as leaving you vulnerable to being stopped, fined and getting points on your licence for dangerous driving).

By taking these steps before you go, you can give yourself the best chance of an epic road trip.

The Goboony list is not exclusive, of course; there are many more possible road trip destinations such as the North Coast 500 around the top end of Scotland, where you really will be getting into some remote areas.

While the Cotswolds is one of the possible English candidates to be made into a national park in 2024, it is not alone, with Dorset and the Chilterns also included. Alternatively, you can visit the Scottish or Welsh candidates for similar status, such as Galloway in Scotland or the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley in Wales.
