How Do I Open The Bonnet?

Over 15,000 Google searches in the past year alone were from struggling motorists looking for how to open their car bonnet.

This is understandable, however; most cars require you to open the bonnet via a button or latch located on the driver’s side, but this location can vary wildly depending on make and model.

Once you find it, pull the lever and the bonnet will pop open, although it is best to wait ten minutes after you switch off the engine before you open it to avoid hurting yourself.

Lift the bonnet slightly and slide the release catch to the left and you can open it fully.

How Much Oil Do I Need?

One of the most asked motoring questions by British drivers, it thankfully has a very straightforward solution. Under the car bonnet should be a dipstick, which you clean and push all the way into the oil tube before pulling back out.

If your oil is at the right levels, it should sit between the two marks on the stick which symbolise minimum and maximum levels.

How Do I Repair A Windscreen Chip?

Before getting in touch with windscreen replacement services, it is always worth your while to see if you can repair a chip yourself.

To use a windscreen repair kit, scrape and remove any loose glass from the ship using the included razor blade, then apply the applicator base to the windscreen with the centre ring directly above the chip’s location.

Screen the resin chamber into the centre ring clockwise and squeeze six drops of the resin into the chamber. After this, screen the pressure driver into the chamber to force the resin into the chip and let it absorb for around six minutes.

Unscrew the pressure driver and if you see several black or green areas, screw it back in, as these black areas are still damage.

Once done, remove everything, clear excess resin, cover with the curing strip and manoeuvrer your car into direct sunlight to allow the curing strip to take effect.
