Most people have good intentions to clean their car every few weeks, but it is hard to keep up with this commitment when you have a busy job, family errands to run, and a hectic social life.
Even so, it is important to keep your windscreen clean, as this enables drivers to be able to see through it clearly so their vision is not impaired when on the road, and means you will spot any scratches in the glass that require windscreen replacement services sooner rather than later.
As well as getting it seen to by a professional car cleaner, it is easy enough to do it yourself.
All you need to do is first wash the windscreen with water to remove the excess dirt and debris, much of which accumulates underneath the windscreen wipers.
The next step after this dries is to use a solution on the glass. This could be a shop bought cleaner, or you could make your own by mixing white vinegar and water together.
You will need two cups of water to half a cup of white vinegar and combine these in a spray bottle. Simply spritz the window with the solution and use a clean microfibre cloth to spread it around.
Make sure to use long strokes to remove any excess solution from the glass, reaching every part of the windscreen by doing half of it at a time.
The important thing when making your own solution is to not use an ammonia-based cleaner on the glass. This is because it can cause damage to the windscreen over time.
It also leaves behind streaks as it dries quickly, not only leaving it unsightly but also making it harder to see clearly through the glass when driving.
Motorists should also not forget to clean the wipers to get rid of any debris, otherwise dirt will be spread across the newly-cleaned window they are next turned on.
